Only Ice Cube will sit on TV wearing a shirt that says, "Ice Cube" on it. He's talking about the new show he's co-producing, "Black.White" on F/X. It's going to premiere on March 8th. Have y'all seen the promos for this? Black.White. The families were on Oprah last week.
Junk is crazy bizarre and very interesting, I think. Remember how last night's post talked about DMC's (of Run DMC) rhymin' flow (and I give that to him generously)? I ain't no hip hop aficionado in the LEAST, but, if you click on that link and option to watch Ice Cube's promo video ... well, just think of how far we've come. Progress is a beautiful thing, lyrically speaking.
Anyway, the morphing that takes place once the pages loads ... all I can say is, "it's black, it's white, it's tough for you to get by. yeah, yeah, yeah."
This show is going to be something. I saw the Oprah episode, and it was tough to watch, because like the two kids, when touchy situations arose, I could see both sides. Case in point, Carmen, the white/"black" mom was praising her daughter's poetry group, and she was really speaking from her heart, but she addressed one boy in particular as "you, you beautiful black creature," and you could seriously feel the entire mood of the room change, on TV. Every black person in that room froze, and you could just tell that the "race wall" had gone up.
I don't know what effect it'll have on people, because who knows who'll even watch the show, but the concept certainly is intriguing, but man, you gotta check out those faces and how they morph. Just fantastic and a touch scary.

I doodled tonight. Can't help it really, and in total keeping with my inner-distracted student, I practiced writing my name: in cursive, in print, lowercase (really cool), with proper capitals (a bit glam), like I was famous, like I was famous and in a rush, just my initials ...
I couldn't think of a "future last name" though, and that sorta made me chuckle-sigh. For the first time ever, I didn't even have that list of options so I could try out my hyphenate, or at least see what kind of swooping arc my "R" would need to fit in its new place.
I did have colored pens though. Loves me some papermate; this allowed me to do a touch of shadowing, stripes and dots and I even got to employ some complimentary colorings. I really worked the color wheel out, and I enjoyed it. So did Raymond. He thinks I have talent. "Gut drewings."
So in honor of my doodlin', I thought I'd let you know what my power color is. I have a pen, colored pencil, marker, crayon and paint pen in this color.
Your Power Color Is Gold |
![]() You are engrossed in passions that mentally stimulate you. At Your Lowest: You seek thrills and neglect what's important in your life. I also think, though, that such a power color warrants two good songs to go with it. I choose, "Golden" by Jill Scott & "Fields of Gold" by Eva Cassidy. Quality.
And my show is Solid Gold. Oh my goodness, I loved that show on Saturday nights! And I didn't think I had what it took to be a Solid Gold dancer; I mean, I didn't want to be one because I was not one for the girly dresses and stockings, but I was always disheartened that I was too young to have a gheri curl. But it was for the best. As much as I played in the sun, I'd have fried like a cracked egg in an iron skillet. Geezus. I can almost hear the sizzle and pop.(Oooh wee. That just reminds me of the freakin' straightenin' comb.)
Gone flinchin'.
